It all goes to show what a tough job the DPP has ahead of them in Taipei city. Unlike Su Tseng-chang though, Tsai Ing-wen comes out of this in a decent position. She’ll be better able to manage her party in the next two years and by being out of any position there won’t be much dirt to hold against her. She’d better learn how to campaign, if she’s planning to run…

Is there a long term trend in local elections?
